About RocketBench

The backstory — who we are, why this exists, and what changed.

Where we come from

RocketBench is the subscription arm of WestLink, the custom software shop I’ve run out of Denver for the past ten years. I’ve been building software myself for twenty. In that time we’ve shipped 1,000+ features for everyone from two-person startups to Fortune 500 teams. The buzzwordiest thing we ever built was a wearable for Citizen Watch, in partnership with NASA and IBM Watson, that could forecast your alertness a day in advance. The other end of the portfolio is marketing sites and unglamorous fixes. Both count.

The pain

If you’ve ever hired development help, you already know the pain. The two people you worked with leave the agency, and nobody tells you — your emails just go quiet. The freelancer who was absolute gold doesn’t work in your new platform. One client came to us after a year and $60K with a developer who never delivered.

We’ve lived the other side of it too. We’ve staffed developers all over the world, and even the great ones disappear sometimes — a missed handoff here, a typhoon knocking out an island’s power for three days there. Nobody’s the villain, but the result is the same: the work stalls, and it stalls on your dime.

That was the deal with custom software. Slow to start, expensive to find out whether an idea would even work, and dependent on a handful of specific people staying put.

February changed the math

I want to be straight with you: I didn’t think AI was ready for real development work until this past February, when a new generation of coding models dropped and it immediately felt different. Work that used to take a team of developers weeks started collapsing to hours. The business model I built WestLink on — custom development billed by the hour — is being fundamentally rewired. I’m not saying that to be dramatic; I’m living it. Honestly, I haven’t had this much fun building in twenty years.

What RocketBench is

We tried a flat-rate development subscription three years ago with a bigger offshore team. It didn’t click — the economics and the consistency both fought us. With today’s tools it’s objectively possible, so we rebuilt the whole offering around them.

Now it works like this: you tag a ticket in the tool you already use — Asana, Jira, Linear, ClickUp, Monday — and RocketBench picks it up. AI does the heavy lifting fast. A Senior Engineer reviews every delivery before it reaches you — AI never ships anything to a client on its own. Flat monthly price, no hourly meter, cancel whenever.

Help first

Twenty years in, the part I’m proudest of isn’t any particular build. It’s that clients and partners keep trusting us with outcomes that matter to them — launches, rescues, the steady stream of small fixes that keep a business earning. We’re grateful for every one of them, and we try to earn it back the same way each time: help first.

That means if a request is outside what we do well, we’ll say so and point you at someone good. If a delivery misses, tell us and we’ll make it right. I’m not here to chase anyone — I love figuring out whether we can help, and the rest follows from that.

Kick the tires

If it sounds like a fit, start a free trial — it’s free, and there’s no pressure on the other end of it. Happy to give you the tour myself: calendly.com/westlink/rocketbench has me, or email hello@rocketbench.com and a human replies — usually me =)
